History of Peekskill
Peekskill is located in the northwestern part of Westchester County, NY along the Hudson River. The riverfront of the City of Peekskill was historically the site of intense commercial and industrial activity for most of the last century. The City's Waterfront served as a port for the shipping and receiving materials and finished goods. The City's river port thrived and provided an economic engine for the City and the region as a whole. Read more about the history of Peekskill here.

This guide is intended to be a comprehensive resource for homeowners and developers interested in supporting the valuable environmental services provided by native plants in their landscaping plans. It includes a list of vegetation native to this region followed by sections where those plants are listed in various landscaping use categories i.e. deer resistant, erosion control, salt tolerant, bird habitat etc. It will serve as a guide toward the important goal of providing environmental services and habitat values for wildlife as well as aesthetic qualities.

It is a guide with suggestions and not a definitive resource.
Community-Based Environmental Justice Inventory 2010
This report focuses on environmental impacts in the City of Peekskill and compares health data for the City to the rest of Westchester County and to national averages. In some cases, as appropriate, the project looks at neighboring communities as well, but the focus is primarily on the City of Peekskill, which has been defined by NYS DEC as a Potential Environmental Justice Area (PEJA)
Peekskill Habitat Summary
This document identifies significant ecosystems in the City, including streams, forests, wetlands, coastal habitats, and other natural areas with important biological values. A list of species and habitats of conservation concern in the City is also provided within the document.
